In an act to support the valiant uprising of the people of Mahabad, a number of women in the city of Sanandaj demonstrated against the death of Farinaz Khosravani. In this demonstration on Sunday, May 10, protestors chanted: “Mahabad is not alone, Sanandaj supports it”
On Saturday, May 9, hundreds of women rights activists in Esfahan assembled in Ashrafi Esfahani Street to protest the death of Farinaz Khosravani. Two of the victims of acid-splashing of the last few months were among the protestors who called for the trial of the perpetrators of these sort of crimes, especially those who splash acid on women.
Ms. Farinaz Khosravani, 26, was a computer graduate and an employee of Tara Hotel in Mahabad who on May 4 plunged from the fourth floor of this hotel and was killed immediately in order to escape the aggression of a mullahs’ intelligence agent.
Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), in a message to the Iranian people, especially the noble women, called for the expansion of the protests and for solidarity with the Kurdish people and in particular with the courageous women and youth of city of Mahabad and asked them to rise up and join this protest movement against suppression, crime and heinous acts by this antihuman regime.
Chair of the NCRI Women’s Committee stated that the shocking death of Farinaz Khosravani betrays the misogynic and deplorable nature of the velayat-e faqih regime in its entirety; a regime that oppresses the defenseless women on the mullah-fabricated pretext of mal-veiling in the streets of cities throughout Iran everyday and conducts patrols to enforce hijab, splashes acid, or attacks women students with knives everyday to exert ever-increasing pressure on the noble Iranian women. On the other hand, its leaders and officials refrain from no villainy or wickedness against the Iranian women.
“The heartbreaking death of Farinaz, this young woman, or the execution of Rayhaneh Jabbari, both in their youth, who lost their lives for facing up to the vicious intentions of regime’s intelligence agents, as well as the suicide of women in protest against the tyranny and oppression of mullahs demonstrates that the noble Iranian women have decided not kneel to the villainies and repression of this antihuman and misogynic regime in whatever manner possible despite the unparalleled gender discrimination, repression and atrocities,” she added.
Ms. Chitsaz said that it is many years now that the Iranian women are on the forefront of the struggle against the antihuman clerical regime and doubtless these very women will eliminate the regime of velayat-e faqih from the Iranian history.
