Female students in Isfahan University have to pass two guards while leaving the premises for their dorms. The first is the dormitory guard and the second is the university’s guard.
Contrary to other universities where the dormitories are located on campus, like at Isfahan University, women have to wear the head scarf while taking a walk or going out to shop. However, their problem is not just the head scarf (Maghna’e’) but they must wear a manteaux and pants as their attire; interactions are controlled by the university and dormitory guards. University officials have placed surveillance cameras on campus to control students’ passings. Officials from the university’s Disciplinary Committee have stated themselves that students are controlled on campus and even on the city’s main bridge (33 Pol).
For example, when a student’s ankle was broken while going to the fifth floor, officials did not permit emergency paramedics to take the student to the hospital on a stretcher at 9:00 pm.
Another example of restrictions to female students is that the women must be in their dormitories at 8:30 pm; if a student steps in at 8:40, she will be reported to the university’s Disciplinary Committee.
