Deputy Governor of Roudan Township reported of a threefold increase in suicides and a tenfold increase in divorces in the past ten years.
Stating that 722 people in this township are under treatment for addiction, he said: Of these, twenty are women, 519 are between 25 to 50 years old, 55 are under 25, and 148 are above 50 years old.
He pointed to a threefold increase in the number of suicides in the last year and noted: 50% of those committing suicide are between 20 and 30 years of age. 35% have less than 20 years of age and 15% are 40 years and older.
Deputy Governor Balali added: In 2003, there were 20 to 30 divorce files in this township, but according to the census in the first six months of this year, we are seeing a tenfold increase in divorces and if this trend continues, we can expect even a twentyfold increase in the future.
