NCRI – August 21, 2013 – The Iranian regime’s new president Hassan Rouhani has tried to hide the regime’s misogyny by claiming he can have no women in his cabinet due to the current critical state of the nation.
Speaking on Monday as he introduced his new Interior Minister, Rouhani said: “Not using women in ministerial positions is due to country’s special conditions.”
His comment comes after proposed cabinet ministers spoke recently to parliament of Iran’s ‘critical’ and ‘perilous’ current state and said that ways must be found to overcome the crisis.
Women are already subjected to severe prejudice under Iranian laws, being banned from standing for president or becoming a judge among many other occupations.
In the past two years, new laws have also been passed to restrict women’s studies at universities to reduce the massive presence of women in higher-education. According to latest statistics, 40% of women with university diplomas are unemployed in Iran.
