NCRI – August 15, 2013 – The commander of the Iranian regime’s security forces rejected the possibility that the policy of imposing upon women the use of the veil would loosen under Rouhani’s presidential term.
IRGC Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam told the state-run Mehr news agency, “The time has not come for women to put aside their veils. There has been no change in the status of women’s hijab as Rouhani takes the office.”
Compulsory wearing of the hijab is a basic principle of the Velayat-e faqieh system. In implementation of this policy, both Ali Khamenei’s faction and the rival faction, who deceptively call themselves reformers, are in common agreement about the practice.
Another regime official, Colonel Massoud Zahedian, chief of the Moral Security police, announced, “The security forces will monitor women’s wearing of the hijab in public places by using cameras and filming them.”
There are various police and security patrols to impose the hijab. Zahedian revealed that 27 institutions in the mullah’s regime monitor and control women’s wearing of the hijab in public places. The agents issue penalties and bring charges against women who do not comply with mandatory veiling.
