Mehrnoush Esfandiari, a 32-year-old mother from Gazanak, Mazandaran Province, was martyred during the nationwide uprising in January 2026.
On January 8, 2026, while participating in protests in the Afsariyeh district of Tehran, Mehrnoush was shot from behind by the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces, with the bullet striking her in the neck. Mehrnoush was the mother of two young daughters.
To hand over her body to her family, the clerical regime’s security agencies extorted 200 million Tomans from them. Her body was eventually laid to rest in her hometown of Gazanak, Mazandaran.
