Mullahs’ Intelligence Fabricates Charges Against Kurdish Activists, Pakhshan Azizi and Varisha Moradi

The clerical regime’s intelligence services are apparently involved in fabricating a case against Kurdish activists, Pakhshan Azizi and Varisha Moradi.

The state-run ROKNA news reported on November 9, 2023, of the destruction of a team of “terrorist PEJAK group” and the arrest of three of its senior members.

According to ROKNA, “A few minutes ago, fighters of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) destroyed a team of the terrorist PEJAK in the border area in Baneh, where all terrorist elements were killed.

“Having undertaken intelligence measures, the intelligence agencies arrested three senior members of the PEJAK terrorist group, in a surprise operation, and handed them over to the judicial authorities.

“The identities of the arrested elements of the terrorist PEJAK group are as follows:

“Varisha Moradi, with the organizational name, Juana Saneh

“Pakhshan Azizi, with the organizational name, Pakhshan Rojelat

“Sirvan Mohammad Rezaii, with the organizational name, Nojin Saneh”

The state media report comes while Varisha Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi have been in jail since August 1 and 4, respectively.

It appears that the mullahs’ Intelligence services have framed the said political prisoners who are reportedly under torture to falsely confess that they are members of PEJAK.

Pakhshan Azizi is a journalist and a social worker. The Kurdish activist was arrested on August 4, 2023, in Shahrak-e Kharrazi, Tehran. Intelligence agents immediately took her to the Intelligence Ministry Ward 209 in Evin Prison.

Pakhshan Azizi, a graduate of Social Work from Tehran University, has been deprived of having contact or visits with her family and of having access to legal representation.

Pakhshan Azizi was previously arrested on November 16, 2009, during a protest by Kurdish students at Tehran University against the execution of political prisoners in Kurdistan. She was released on March 19, 2010, on bail.

Varisha Moradi, a Kurdish women’s rights activist and a member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR), was kidnapped by agents of the Intelligence Ministry on the road from Marivan to Sanandaj, on August 1, 2024. She has not had any contact with her family.

Varisha was viciously tortured in the detention center of the Department of Intelligence of Sanandaj to make confessions against herself. At least, in one instance, she vomited blood and went completely unconscious under torture.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
