Yekta Dodangeh, 14, Among Hundreds Arrested During Protests in Tehran

Yekta Dodangeh, 14, Among Hundreds Arrested During Protests in Tehran

September 19, 2023
in Women's News

The clerical regime has recently viciously cracked down on Iranian society to suppress the ongoing uprising. Security services have arrested hundreds of individuals, including Yekta Dodangeh, a 14-year-old girl.

The people of Iran, however, are persistently commemorating the anniversary of the 2022 uprising, which commenced on September 16 with the tragic death of Mahsa Amini.

Brave women came out to the streets of Rasht (N. Iran) and Mashhad (NE Iran) and chanted anti-regime slogans in bright daylight.

Young people rallied courageously in Lahijan, in Gilan province (N. Iran), on Saturday, September 16.

People chanted anti-regime slogans calling for the overthrow of the “child-killing” regime and the “bloodthirsty Khamenei” from their rooftops in various districts of Tehran, Urmia, Karaj, and other cities on Sunday, September 17.

Tehran Residents Took to the Streets Despite Massive Clampdown

Since September 11, security forces have been on high alert in Tehran. The regime mobilized approximately 23,000 IRGC and Basij forces and 21,000 State Security forces within Tehran. They imposed strict restrictions in many parts of the city, preventing more than three individuals from gatherings. These actions underscore the regime’s vulnerability amid the volatile societal situation.

The official IRNA news agency reported on September 16 that some norm-breakers who had covered their faces with masks had tried to incite riots in some districts of Tehran from Enghelab to Ferdowsi avenues. Organized in groups of three to seven, they tried to chant slogans downtown near Tehran University, Valiasr intersection, and Enghelab Square. Other groups tried to assemble in Shariati Ave., Sattarkhan, Sadeghieh, and parts of east and north Tehran. IRNA wrote the SSF used tear gas to disperse the crowds of protesters. (IRNA, September 16, 2023)

The following photos show the brutality of security forces towards those who dare to come out to the streets.

Yekta Dodangeh, 14, Arrested in Tehran

Among those arrested in Tehran on September 16, 2023, was Yekta Dodangeh, 14. The last time she called her family, she said security forces were chasing her. No information is available on the conditions and whereabouts of Yekta Dodangeh as this report is being published.

Meanwhile, the regime persisted in its crackdown on civil activists. Sheida Saberi was apprehended on September 16 in Yasuj and subsequently moved to the women’s ward of the local prison.

On the same day, Parisa Mohammadi, an athlete, fell into the hands of security forces in Kermanshah on Saturday evening.

Gelavizh Tahmasbi, a civil activist and mountain climber, was detained by the Department of Intelligence in Sanandaj.

Security forces displayed brutality towards families of detained protesters who sought information about their children in various detention centers.

The state-run Mehr news agency also reported the arrest of nine network leaders and critical elements behind the riots in Isfahan. (Mehr, September 17, 2023)

The regime’s news agencies have reported the arrests of dozens of individuals affiliated with the opposition PMOI.

The IRGC-backed daily Mashreq News reported the arrest of 160 individuals in Tehran, 5 PMOI affiliates in Gohardasht of Karaj, and 13 individuals in Marvdasht. (September 17, 2023)

Two network leaders affiliated with the PMOI were arrested in Quds Township, outside Tehran, as reported by the state-run Quds news agency on September 18.

Tasnim news agency also reported on the arrest of an individual identified as being in contact with the opposition PMOI on September 18.
