Afsaneh Nadipour, who has been an accomplice and apologist for the crimes of the misogynistic dictatorship of the mullahs for over 30 years, is a candidate for membership in the Advisory Committee of the UN Human Rights Council.
The membership of such an operative of the regime of executions and the godfather of terrorism in this committee stands in clear and fundamental contradiction to the values upon which the United Nations is founded and is a gross insult to human rights and its universally recognized principles. A regime that executed more than a thousand prisoners in 2024 and over 950 prisoners in the first eight months of 2025.
Afsaneh Nadipour, whose membership is to be decided upon on October 8, is a former ambassador of the Iranian regime in Denmark and, both before and after her tenure, has consistently worked to justify the inhumane policies of the religious fascism ruling Iran, as well as the systematic violation of human rights and women’s rights by this regime.
The presence of such a figure in the Advisory Committee would provide the medieval regime of the mullahs with greater leeway to carry out executions, torture, and repression, particularly against women, and offer more opportunities to justify these crimes.
The clerical regime has been condemned in at least 71 United Nations resolutions for its systematic and severe violations of human rights. In his report of July 2024, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran emphasized that the executions of the 1980s constitute genocide and crimes against humanity, crimes which continue to this day, with the regime’s leaders and senior officials being complicit in these atrocities and required to face justice.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran calls upon the UN High Commissioner and the Human Rights Council, as well as member states, particularly those in the United Nations Asian Group, to take immediate action to prevent the membership of such an individual in the Advisory Committee and not allow the human rights apparatus of the United Nations to be manipulated by the misogynistic and terrorist dictatorship of the mullahs.
