On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, Fatemeh Mohammad-Zehi, a 50-year-old Baloch woman, was killed during an armed assault on her home in the village of Kohan-Karim, located in Paskouh District of Sib and Soran County, in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Two other members of her family were seriously injured in the attack.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., unknown assailants arrived in a Peugeot vehicle outside the home of Shah-Hossein Domakzehi, a respected local Baloch elder from the Shanbeh-Zehi tribe. When Fatemeh Mohammad-Zehi, the mother of the household, came to the door, she was shot and killed at close range. The attackers then entered the home, opening fire on her children—Maryam Domakzehi (Shanbeh-Zehi), approximately 20, and Javad Domakzehi (Shanbeh-Zehi), around 30—leaving both seriously wounded.
As of the time of this report, the identity and motives of the attackers remain unknown, and no official statements have been issued by Iranian authorities.
This incident marks the third targeted killing of Baloch women in violent raids on villages in the province over the past two weeks.
Just ten days earlier, on July 1, 2025, Iranian security forces launched a deadly raid on the village of Gonich, during which 12 unarmed Baloch women were directly targeted by gunfire. One woman, Khan-Bibi Bamari, was killed, while 11 others—ranging from teenage girls to middle-aged women—were wounded.
Among the injured was Lali Bamari, a 40-year-old woman, who succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Friday morning, July 4.
This incident is a stark example of the grave and systematic human rights violations committed by the Iranian regime, especially in Sistan and Baluchestan. The deliberate targeting of civilians, particularly women, underscores the urgent need for international attention and a decisive response from human rights organizations and global institutions.
