Current Situation of Political Prisoners Nayyereh Behnood and Golnaz Salahchin in Evin Prison
Kowsar Dehban Zadeh, sister of political prisoner Meysam Dehban Zadeh, who is held in Ghezel Hesar Prison, has now spent nearly a month in detention at Shiraz Intelligence Office, commonly referred to as “Plaque 100,” with her case still unresolved.
Since her arrest 29 days ago, she has undergone repeated interrogation sessions, with no clear charges yet disclosed.
Kowsar Dehban Zadeh was detained by security forces on September 27, 2024, in Shiraz. Previously, she had been summoned and questioned several times for her vocal advocacy and legal efforts on behalf of her imprisoned brother.
Nayyereh Behnood Transferred to Women’s Ward in Evin After Month-Long Interrogation
More than a month ago, security forces arrested Nayyereh Behnood. On October 21, 2024, after completing her interrogation in Section 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence at Evin Prison, she was transferred to the women’s ward. Her case remains unresolved, and her temporary release on bail has been denied. The charges filed against her include “propaganda against the state” and “collusion through association with opposition groups.”
Golnaz Salahchin Serving Sentence in Evin
Golnaz Salahchin is currently serving her sentence in the women’s ward of Evin Prison. She was initially summoned and charged in March 2024. The Tehran Revolutionary Court, Branch 26, sentenced her to one year in prison for “propaganda against the state.” On October 3, 2024, she was detained to begin her sentence in Evin. Golnaz, 47, is the mother of two daughters and was formerly a schoolteacher before being dismissed from her position.
