Student activist Armita Paveer has been sentenced to one year and ten months and 17 days of imprisonment.
The Revolutionary Court of Azarshahr sentenced Armita Paveer to one year and three months and one day of imprisonment for insulting Khamenei in cyberspace. She was also sentenced to seven months and 16 days of imprisonment for “propaganda activities against the state.”
According to the regime’s punishment law, she would have to serve one year and three months in jail if her verdict is upheld by the Revision Court.
Student activist Armita Paveer was arrested by security forces on September 21, 2023, and transferred to the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Tabriz.
She is presently detained in the Central Prison of Tabriz. She started a hunger strike on November 6, in protest of horrible prison conditions. Prison authorities were forced to transfer her to hospital due to her critical condition but returned her to prison before completing her medical treatment.
Armita Paveer was a student of cell and molecular biology at the Madani University of Azerbaijan. She has been expelled from university.
Student activist Armita Paveer was arrested on October 31, 2022, during the 2022 Iran protests but later released on bail on December 8, 2022.
