Maryam Jalal Hosseini and Fatemeh Tadrisi were arrested on May 9 during the teachers’ protests
Detained teachers Maryam Jalal Hosseini and Fatemeh Tadrisi began a hunger strike on Monday, May 29, 2023, in protest of the inadequate conditions of Qarchak Prison.
Ms. Jalal Hosseini was arrested on May 9 during the teachers’ protest gathering in Tehran. She had previously been detained during the nationwide Iran protests and recently released from prison.
Fatemeh Tadrisi, a teacher residing in Tehran, was arrested by security forces on May 9 in Tehran’s Baharestan Square, simultaneous with the teachers’ protest. She was transferred to the Qarchak Prison in Varamin.
Ms. Tadrisi had been detained twice during the nationwide protests of 2022. At that time, she was held in Kachouii Prison for one month and spent some time in Evin Prison.
