Parya Karim Adnani sentenced to imprisonment and lashes
In recent days, the mullahs’ regime has continued its campaign of arrests and imprisonments of human rights activists, along with issuing prison and flogging sentences for them. Among them are the arrests and imprisonments of Zhina Modarres Gorji and Zeinab Zaman, as well as the sentencing of Parya Karim Adnani to imprisonment and lashes.
Zhina Modarres Gorji is re-arrested and imprisoned
Zhina Modarres Gorji, a journalist and women’s rights activist from Sanandaj has been arrested for the second time by intelligence forces.
According to informed sources, on Monday, April 10, 2023, around 2 pm, Zhina Modarres Gorji was violently arrested by the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj agents and transferred to the city’s Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
The exact reasons for her arrest and charges against Ms. Modarres Gorji remain unknown.
Zhina Modarres Gorji was previously charged by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court’s Branch 1 with “acting against national security by forming an illegal group and joining it” in February 2023. She had also been accused of “propaganda against the state” in the past.
On September 21, 2022, Zhina Modarres Gorji was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj and spent 40 days in the women’s ward of Sanandaj Prison before being released on bail of 100 million tomans, on October 30, until the end of her trial.
IRGC Intelligence arrests and detains Zeinab Zaman in Tehran
Zeinab Zaman was detained by the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence forces on Saturday, April 8, 2023, and transferred to an unknown location.
Ms. Zaman was summoned by the IRGC Intelligence over the phone and subsequently arrested after going to their office. Security forces also searched her residence. The reasons for her arrest and her whereabouts are currently unknown.
Her husband, Arman Soheili, said they visited the Revolutionary Guards’ Niyayesh District office on Saturday, April 8, at 10 am. After waiting 30 minutes, he was informed that Zeinab Zaman had been taken to inspect their residence.
He also wrote: “After searching our house and checking my phone, they seized Zeinab’s phone and other electronic items and said she was detained on the order of the Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor.”
On April 7, 2023, Zeinab Zaman announced on her personal page that an unknown person had asked her to go to the IRGC’s Niyayesh District office in Tehran for a “chat,” and it would be in her interest to go to the requested location.
Parya Karim Adnani sentenced to four months in prison and 18 lashes
Security forces summoned and arrested Parya Karim Adnani during the nationwide protests in 2022. She was temporarily released on bail until the end of the trial after being interrogated.
She has now been sentenced to imprisonment and lashes.
Ms. Adnani, 36 years old and a resident of Saqqez, has been sentenced to four months in prison and 18 lashes by the Saqqez Criminal Court’s Branch 105 on charges of “propaganda against the state” and promoting Kurdish parties on social media.
