Four political prisoners detained in the notorious Qarchak Prison sent out an open letter condemning the clerical regime’s sham election.
The horrible conditions in Qarchak Prison under Ebrahim Ra’isi, Zahra Safaei, Marzieh Farsi, Parastoo Mo’ini, and Forough Taghipour debunked his claims to improve the situation in the country.
In part of their letter, the four political prisoners detained in Qarchak Prison wrote:
The 14th round of presidential elections is yet another worn-out show with actors hiding behind masks of deceits and lies…
Among these actors is a familiar name. In recent years, there were many efforts to whitewash his black name, but he could not conceal his bloody and criminal record. He had a significant role in the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988.
As the Judiciary Chief, he described Qarchak as “the best prison.” This is while the conditions in this prison are horrible, including lack of hygiene, insufficient food quota, lack of primary health care, low quality and quantity of food, etc. Narcotic drugs are abundant, and inmates have various skin diseases. There is not sufficient space for serving one’s prison term. Inmates have abnormal and immoral behavior due to a lack of social and ethical psychotherapy.
How could one expect those who did not do anything to improve prison conditions for a long time to improve the circumstances in a country. Massacre and various forms of physical elimination started in the 1980s. This slaughter will not end until this fascist regime is overthrown!
Zahra Safaei, Marzieh Farsi, Parastoo Mo’ini, and Forough Taghipour are detained for supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
Zahra Safaei and her daughter, Parastoo Mo’ini, have been sentenced to eight and six years in prison, respectively. Forough Taghipour has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Their detention in Qarchak Prison among common criminals violates the principle of separation of crimes in prisons. Common and dangerous criminals incited by the prison’s warden have attacked these political prisoners several times and threatened to kill them.
