Two years after the arrest and detention of Zahra Zehtabchi, she is not allowed to have a leave.
Zahra Zehtabchi, 46, has a masters of sociology and is a social scientist, who was arrested in October 2013.
She spent 14 months in solitary confinement in the Intelligence Ministry’s Ward 209 of Evin and was subsequently transfered to the women’s ward.
Ms. Zehtabchi is in prison for active and effective support for the PMOI. She was tried and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
