Maud Wood Park: Pioneering Suffragist and Advocate for Women’s Rights

in Women in History

Maud Wood Park (January 25, 1871 – October 21, 1955) was a leading American suffragist, educator, and political activist whose tireless efforts helped secure women’s right to vote in the United States. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Park became deeply involved in the women’s suffrage movement after graduating from Radcliffe College, dedicating her life to advancing gender equality in politics.

Park co-founded the College Equal Suffrage League, empowering young women to participate in political activism, and played a key role in the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA). Following the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, she continued her work by helping establish the League of Women Voters, promoting civic engagement and political education among women nationwide.

Maud Wood Park’s enduring legacy is her unwavering commitment to women’s rights, political participation, and the empowerment of future generations.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
