Shahindokht Molaverdi, Rouhani’s deputy on women and family affairs, was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office to explain
about her revelation
of the massacre of all men in a village in Sistan and Baluchistan, southeastern Iran.
Mullah Mohseni Eje’ii, the Judiciary spokeman, announced: “Mrs. Molaverdi has been summoned and is due to report to the Prosecutor’s Office to explain about the file that has been opened.” (The state-run ISNA news agency, April 10, 2016)
During a conference on February 23, 2016, where Molaverdi was explaining about the drastic situation of women whose husbands are imprisoned or executed, she revealed that all of the men of a village in Sistan and Baluchistan Province had been executed.
Molaverdi’s shocking remarks caused widespread reactions, drawing greater focus on the flagrant violations of human rights in Iran and creating a major embarrassment for the regime.
Subsequent probes into the story revealed that the situation was not limited to just one village but was the case for many villages of Iran.
