On January 8, 2026, during the nationwide protests in Malekshahr, Isfahan, Mona Hosseini was shot by the regime’s criminal security forces. A live round struck her in the face.
She was transferred to Gharzi Hospital in Isfahan, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Mona Hosseini was 55 years old and worked as a radiology specialist.
Her daughter and son-in-law, who were with her at the time, were also wounded by live ammunition and remain under intensive medical care.
Following her death, regime institutions pressured the Hosseini family to label her as a so-called “martyr”—a term used by the regime to imply loyalty to the state—and to bury her in the “Martyrs’ Section” of Bagh-e Rezvan Cemetery.
Her husband categorically rejected this demand.
