On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Leila Aliramaii, a 40-year-old Kurdish woman from the village of Bisaran and resident of Hejrat district in Marivan, was shot dead in broad daylight by Keyvan Basami, an official member of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Basami opened fire with a Kalashnikov rifle, killing her instantly.
Leila Aliramaii was the mother of two young children, who were at school when their mother was killed.
According to some reports, the murderer’s motive was Leila Aliramaii’s refusal to submit to the vile demands of the IRGC member.
Basami, who is married to two women, has a documented history of domestic violence against both of his wives. One of them had already filed for divorce, and her case was still under judicial review at the time of the murder.
Leila Aliramaii was laid to rest on Monday, October 27, at the Darsiran cemetery in Marivan. The perpetrator was reportedly arrested shortly after the attack.
Since these crimes have political roots and drivers, the cycle of bloody violence against women cannot be broken as long as the mullahs’ misogynistic regime rules Iran.
Only the complete overthrow of this repressive, anti-woman system—and its replacement with a government founded on equality, human dignity, and gender justice—can bring an end to the tragedy of femicide in Iran.
