Arghavan Fallahi and Parvin Mirasan convicted of waging war on God

Where Is Arghavan Fallahi? Regime Demands 2-Billion-Toman Bail While Family Remains in the Dark

August 4, 2025
in Women's News

More than six months after the arrest of 24-year-old political prisoner Arghavan Fallahi, her family still has no information about her whereabouts or health condition. Despite this total lack of communication, the Iranian regime’s judiciary has set an exorbitant bail of 2 billion tomans (approximately $40,000 USD) for her temporary release.

The demand for such a high bail—while Arghavan is held incommunicado and denied all phone calls or visits—has only deepened the family’s concerns.

A Father’s Plea from Behind Bars

Nasrollah Fallahi, Arghavan’s father, is himself a political prisoner currently held in Ward 2 of the Greater Tehran Penitentiary (Fashafouyeh Prison). On Sunday, August 3, 2025, he released an audio message addressed to the Iranian public and the international community, highlighting the cruel uncertainty and abuse surrounding his daughter’s detention. In it, he describes a desperate, months-long struggle for information and justice.

“I’ve now entered the seventh month since my daughter’s arrest,” he said. “Agents from the Ministry [of Intelligence] detained her without a single piece of evidence. They tortured her to fabricate a case.”

Since her arrest, Arghavan has been held incommunicado. “I haven’t received a single verified update,” Mr. Fallahi added. “Not even one short phone call has been allowed.”

Nasrollah Fallahi also recalled the day of a recent bombing attack, when, despite being seriously injured and bleeding, his only concern was finding out whether his daughter was alive. “Even then, all I wanted was news about Arghavan. But instead of answers, intelligence agents stood behind the window and threatened to shoot me.”

Adding to the concern, Nasrollah Fallahi noted that his daughter suffers from severe neurological migraines, and he doubts that she is receiving her prescribed medication in custody.

Rearrested in Tehran on January 25, 2025, Arghavan Fallahi was subjected to interrogation and torture in solitary confinement in Ward 241 of Evin Prison. She was initially transferred to solitary cells in Fashafouyeh Prison after being removed from Evin. During this time, she has been under constant interrogation and subjected to psychological torture and denied visits with her family.

The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran calls for the intervention of the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran and the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls to investigate Arghavan Fallahi’s whereabouts and detention conditions. It also urges all international human rights and women’s rights bodies to take urgent action for the release of political prisoners, especially women.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
