On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran hosted a conference to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD 2025). The event gathered distinguished political leaders, human rights advocates, and supporters of the Iranian Resistance from over 80 countries.
Dolores Bevilacqua is an Italian Senator since October 2022 and is the Vice-Chair of the Senate Commission on European Affairs.
Senator Dolores Bevilacqua delivered a speech at the IWD 2025 event in Paris, excerpts of which are presented below.
Distinguished guests,
I feel it is important to say something to those present here and to the courageous women we see on screen from Ashraf-3.
I will return home to my five-year-old daughter, whom I left today. She is a very fortunate child because she was born and lives in a country where she can choose her own path when she grows up—where she does not have a mother who must fight to secure her dignity, her freedom, and her happiness.

And so, I return home carrying with me the story of this International Women’s Day that we have experienced here, marked by the example of these remarkable women who are fighting for the freedom and dignity of all women across the world.
I embrace your slogan, but I want to strengthen it. Because from today, for me, “Woman, Freedom, and Resistance” becomes: Long live women, long live resistance, long live freedom!
