Sudabeh Fakharzadeh, a 66-year-old political prisoner, is currently enduring a five-year sentence in Tehran’s infamous Evin Prison.
She was arrested by security forces in mid-March 2023, while in Chitgar Park, Tehran. Following a period of intense interrogation, she was transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison on May 9, 2023.
In June 2023, Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court sentenced Fakharzadeh to five years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security.”
Born in 1958, Sudabeh Fakharzadeh is a veteran dissident who previously suffered imprisonment during the 1980s for her steadfast dedication to her political convictions.
