A group of female political prisoners in Evin Prison announced that the women’s ward of Evin joined the nationwide hunger strike on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the “Tuesdays Against Executions” campaign.
This week, the political prisoners protested against the execution of political prisoner Reza Rasaei, and the mass execution of 29 prisoners on August 7 in the prisons of Ghezel Hesar and Karaj.
At least 51 prisoners were hanged in Iran in just one week from August 6 to 13, 2024.
For the 29th consecutive week, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the prisoners went on a hunger strike in 18 prisons, including Evin Prison (women’s ward, wards 4, 6, and 8), Ghezel Hesar Prison (units 3 and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Ardabil Prison, Salmas Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Lakan Rasht Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, and Mashhad Prison.
