Prison authorities released her mother for only 10 days to look for her
Two teenage girls from Qazvin have disappeared since January 31, 2024, and the city authorities have declared that they are unable to find the girls. Ayda Morad Behrouzi, 13, and her classmate, Hasti Mohammad Hosseini, left home for school at 12 noon on January 31, but have not returned home.
Souri Babaei Chegini, the mother of Ayda Morad Behrouzi is a political prisoner detained since July for defying the compulsory Hijab code. While in detention, the authorities issued another 7-month sentence for her.
The head of the Justice Department of Mohammadieh in Qazvin province told Souri Babaei Chegini that she would be released with an electronic leg tag to look for her daughter if she wore the Hijab and expressed remorse, and deposited a (house ownership) document.
Ms. Babaei was released from prison for ten days on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, to look for her daughter. In the meantime, the Iranian judiciary has activated a case against Reza Morad Behrouzi, Ayda’s father.
