Maryam Rajavi: The United Nations Security Council needs to take immediate action against the systematic suppression of children
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran salutes the students who laid down their lives for freedom in Iran, such as Nika Shakrami, Sarina Esmailzadeh, Asra Panahi, Zakaria Khayal, Siavosh Mahmoudi, Amin Moarefi, Abolfazl Adinezadeh and 12year-old Mohammad Rakhshani. It also condemns the regime’s brutal attacks on schools and killing of dozens of juveniles. It calls on all the countrymen, especially the brave women and girls of Iran, to confront these inhuman actions.
Terrified by the active participation of students in the nationwide uprising against the misogynist regime with the slogan of “Death to the dictator,” the clerical regime violates all international laws and treaties regarding the rights of children and adolescents.
The attack on Shahed Girls High School in Ardabil is an example of the regime’s brutal crimes against children and students. In Tehran and some cities, suppressive forces attacked schools with tear gas. In some cases, plainclothes agents entered schools with vans without license plates and armored cars to suppress students and arrest them. They also arrested some school principals who refused to cooperate with the suppressive forces.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said the killing of children and attacks on schools, as well as shooting school children throughout Iran is a crime being perpetrated by Khamenei’s thugs, which needs to be addressed by UN Security Council. If the systematic killing of children is met with silence in the 21st century, what is left of human rights?
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran calls for immediate international action and intervention to secure the release of arrested children and students.
