The fate of a Kurdish Iranian woman is still unknown after three days of detention by intelligence agents in Mahabad, Iranian Kurdistan.
The woman identified as Ronak Aghaii was arrested on charges of “hoisting the flag of Kurdistan” in a gathering in Mahabad in support of Iraqi Kurdistan’s referendum for independence. One of her close relatives said despite inquiries by her family, intelligence agents have not given any specific information on Ms. Aghaii’s fate.
The informed source also stated that intelligence agents had rejected the family’s requests to visit and hire a lawyer for her.
