169,000 children are deprived of education in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan.
Alireza Nakhaii, general director of the Education Department in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, announced on Friday, June 16, 2017, that 169,000 children had been identified in the province who “need to receive education.”
According to the reports of the Research Center of Parliament (Majlis), 3,200,000 children are deprived of education in Iran. Girls make up the lion’s share of those deprived of education.
In addition to Sistan and Baluchistan, there are at least 100,000 children in Khuzistan Province (southwestern Iran) and 15,000 children in Hormuzgan Province (southern Iran) are deprived of access to education. (The state-run ILNA news agency – June 16, 2017)
