Prisoner of conscience, Maryam Naghash Zargaran, has been on hunger strike since four days ago to protest being deprived of medical treatment, also the conditions of her case,
being deprived of conditional leave, and cancellation of her medical leave.
Ms. Zargaran, a new Christian, also refrained from visiting her family on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Subsequently, most of her cellmates in the women’s ward of Evin refused their own visits in an act of solidarity.
One of Ms. Zargaran’s relatives said, “She has not come out of bed for 4 days. Her temperature is severely high. She is in a dire health condition. She had already lost 25 kilograms even before the hunger strike. She is in terrible health conditions and has been going through a new illness which causes severe dizziness and headaches, but is not given any treatment.
“She asked for revision of her case a long time ago. However, her family was recently informed that there is no such request in her dossier and she file her request again,” the relative added.
The NCRI Women’s Committee has published details of this Christian prisoner’s health conditions held in Evin’s women ward.
