“In the past, we received reports on the birth of three to four addicted infants in a month, but unfortunately, with the rise in the number of children born by cardboard-sleeping parents, we receive reports of two births (of addicted children) every day.
” This news was announced by Fatemeh Daneshvar, head of the social committee of Tehran’s City Council.
Noting social ills involving addicted women sleeping in cardboard-boxes, Daneshvar said, “There are no accurate figures available on the birth of addicted infants in Tehran. The only available statistics are on women’s referral to hospitals for delivery.”
