The blood pressure of political prisoner Sedigheh Moradi dropped to a dangerous 6 over 4 low on Saturday, August 29, putting her in a very critical condition.
The 55-year-old mother was transferred to the prison’s clinic upon the insistence of her cell-mates but was readily returned to the cell without receiving sufficient treatment. Interrogators prevented her transfer out of Evin, to be hospitalized and treated.
Ms. Moradi was arrested in April 2011 in a raid by intelligence agents on her residence and held in solitary confinement under physical and psychological torture for seven months. She is serving her ten-year term of imprisonment. She had been previously arrested and imprisoned during the massive crackdown of the 1980s.
