A group of the women who have staged a sit-in in the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Massoumeh in Qom since nine days ago, were arrested yesterday, August 24.
Twelve of those arrested have been identified as: Na’imeh Taghavi, Mahnaz Farhad, Azimeh Sepehri, Arezoo Moghaddam Sepehr, Sorayya Ahdi, Na’imeh Ahdi, Arezoo Ahdi, Haydeh Derakhshani, Mahmoud Amin, Ms. Akhoundi, Baharin Asgarieh and Maryam Amiri.
These women are student of prisoner of conscience Mohammad Ali Taheri who has been excommunicated by three sources of emulation in Qom and thus condemned to death by the judiciary.
The protesting women had gone to the residence of mullah Makarem Shirazi to urge him to annul his decree against Mr. Taheri, but were driven away. They subsequently went to the Holy Shrine and began their sit-in.
