Iran: political prisoner Narges Mohammadi fighting for her life

Narges Mohammadi, women’s rights activist, remains in prison and is being deprived of medical care. Reports indicate efforts made to provide medication for her by her family have been futile.

Mohammadi has been sentenced to five years in jail based on Article 610 of Iran’s Islamic Penal Code (assembly and collusion against national security); another five years in jail based on Article 499 of the Islamic Penal Code (activities regarding propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran); and another 1 year. This makes to a total of 11 years prison.

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
