Shahindokht Molavardi, the Iranian regime Vice president in women and family affairs, said a bill providing 30% membership for women in the regime’s “Expediency Council”, has been rejected.
“While there are talks of allowing women participate and empowering them in the political fields, there are various litmus tests including the number of women in comparison to men in high positions. Today, the average number of women in parliaments has passed the 20% mark. However, according to 2015 statistics the presence of Iranian women in the parliament is under 3% and under 9% in the cabinet,” she said.
