University Students Hold Protests and Clash with Basij Forces

University Students Hold Protests and Clash with Basij Forces

February 21, 2026
in Women's News

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, coinciding with the fortieth day since the killing of women and youth by agents of Khamenei during the nationwide protests, universities turned into a scene of protest and confrontation between students and regime forces. Students at Sharif University of Technology and Amir Kabir University of Technology staged protests. They chanted:

“This is the last message; the target is the entire regime”
“This year is the year of sacrifice; Seyyed Ali will be overthrown.”
“We will fight, we will die, we will take Iran back.”

During the protest by students at Sharif University of Technology, which took shape on the university campus, Basij mercenaries attacked the student gathering and chanted the fascist slogan “Javid  Shah” (Long live the Shah). Brave students responded to this slogan by shouting “Shameless, shameless” and clashed with the Basij forces.

These protests took place as the people of Abdanan took to the streets in protest against the arrest of a number of young people and teachers. Chants of “Death to Khamenei” by women and youth filled the city’s atmosphere.

On the fortieth day of the fallen of the January uprising, cities across Iran, from Tehran, Karaj, Hashtgerd, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, and Ilam to cities in northern Iran, witnessed renewed pledges to the fallen for the freedom of the homeland. Grieving mothers, with impassioned and courageous speeches, turned the graves of their children into centers of protest for freedom.

ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
