79th week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign: Prisoners in 48 prisons and families protest new wave of executions in Iran.
On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, detainees in dozens of prisons once again reacted to the intensifying repression with collective resistance.
79th week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign comes just two days after the sudden and secret executions of two political prisoners—Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani Eslamloo—in Ghezel Hesar prison. Their executions were carried out without prior notice to their families and in complete disregard of fair trial standards, prompting a wave of domestic and international censure.
The campaign continues amid escalating state violence, including the punitive transfer of Saeed Masouri, one of Iran’s longest-imprisoned political prisoners and a well-known figure of resistance, to Zahedan prison—a move widely viewed as retaliatory.
In a joint statement issued by the protesting prisoners, the recent actions were described as “a deliberate attempt to crush the core of the anti-execution resistance movement.” Yet, they reaffirmed that despite widespread crackdowns, the movement persists with resilience, hope, and unwavering determination.
Political prisoners condemned the brutal assault on Ghezel Hesar prison and the recent executions, calling them a clear sign of “the Iranian regime’s desperation in the face of mounting internal crises and international pressure.” They urged the public and international bodies to amplify the call against executions and to support the ongoing campaign.
Voices of the Families: “Executions, Exile, and Repression Will No Longer Silence Us”
In the 79th week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign, families of political prisoners also played a significant role, staging public demonstrations in several cities to express solidarity with the movement.
These families—who have endured years of uncertainty, deprivation, and suffering—have become central figures in amplifying the message of “No to Execution.” Holding photos of their loved ones and placards with slogans such as:

They declared once again that their voices will not be silenced.
Families of prisoners like Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, and Akbar Daneshvarkar participated in the rallies, raising public awareness about the horrific conditions inside prisons, ongoing torture, forced exile, and the systematic isolation of prisoners.
