Fariba Ahmadi, the ailing and elderly stepmother of political prisoner Pejman Tobreh-Rizi, died of a heart attack following a violent nighttime raid by Iranian security forces on her home in Kermanshah.
The raid occurred on the night of Monday, July 14, 2025, targeting the home of Pejman Tobreh-Rizi’s family. According to eyewitnesses, agents stormed the residence in an aggressive and intimidating manner, disregarding the medical conditions of its elderly occupants. Fariba Ahmadi, who was bedridden due to cancer, reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack amid the chaos and terror caused by the operation.
The stated objective of the raid was the arrest of Pejman Tobreh-Rizi’s younger brother and the alleged discovery of weapons. However, after hours of invasive searching, no weapons or incriminating evidence were found. The agents confiscated only two mobile phones before leaving the premises.
Political Prisoner Denied Medical Care
Pejman Tobreh-Rizi, a 32-year-old political prisoner from Kermanshah, was previously held in Evin Prison prior to the dismantling of its political wards. He is currently incarcerated in the Greater Tehran Penitentiary (Fashafouyeh Prison) under dire health conditions. Suffering from heart disease, he has been denied access to adequate medical care—raising growing concerns about targeted pressure and systematic neglect by prison authorities.
Security-Controlled Funeral
Fariba Ahmadi was buried the following day, Tuesday, July 15, in her hometown of Bilehvar. The funeral took place under heavy security surveillance. Intelligence agents were present throughout the ceremony to prevent any public expression of protest or dissent.
Prior to the burial, the Tobreh-Rizi family was explicitly warned not to attribute Ahmadi’s death to the raid. They were further threatened with potential consequences should any information about the incident be made public.
Cause of Death Falsified
Ahmadi’s body was transferred to Imam Reza Hospital in Kermanshah. In coordination with security authorities, the official medical report cited “cancer” as the cause of death—despite the family’s insistence that a heart attack triggered by the raid was the actual cause.
