The mullahs’ Judiciary summoned the bereaved widow of executed Iran protester Mostafa Salehi, ordering her to pay 425 million Tomans as blood money for an IRGC Bassij member.
According to this misogynistic and inhuman ruling, if the widow of executed Iran protester, now a single woman head of household, fails to pay the heavy compensation, her house and only shelter for her two orphaned children – Nazanin, 4, and Amir Hossein, 6—will be impounded. They will also confiscate the garden belonging to the family of Mostafa Salehi.
Mostafa Salehi, 33, was a construction worker who earned his family’s living by working as an informal taxi driver.
He and his wife participated in the nationwide uprisings in December 2017 and January 2018 in protest to high prices and government corruption which lasted for several weeks.
Mostafa Salehi was arrested and detained allegedly for killing an IRGC Bassij member who was shot and killed during the protests in Kahrizsang, in Najafabad, Isfahan Province, a charge that he denied throughout his court proceedings.
The first trial of Mostafa Salehi was held on February 17, 2019. Salehi was held for 8 months in solitary confinement of the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Dowlatabad. He spent another five months in solitary confinement in the basement of Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan. He was handcuffed, chained on his legs and confined to his solitary cell without a mattress and a blanket. He had no visitation rights for 14 months and was given only a small piece of bread while in solitary.
During 2.5 years of detention, interrogators viciously tortured him, broke his teeth and limbs, and damaged his neck and spine. But he did not give in to the demands of his interrogators to make false confessions on TV and collaborate with the Intelligence Ministry. He insisted on his innocence but was eventually hanged in the morning of August 5, 2020.
As for the callous verdict of the mullahs’ Judiciary against the widow of executed Iran protester Mostafa Salehi, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI President-elect, said: “The ruthlessness and inhumanity of the ruling mullahs know no bounds… demanding payment from Salehi’s bereaved wife and orphaned children for hanging him… The mullahs must be expelled from the world community.”
