The 33rd session of the UN Human Rights Council was opened on the morning of Tuesday, September 13, 2016, with the remarks of H.E. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein,
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Mr. Hussein noted the Iranian regime’s failure to cooperate with the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and called this approach as “regrettable” given the reports on fundamental problems with the administration of criminal justice.
“Discrimination against women both in law and practice” were among the disturbing issues particularly underlined by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in his opening remarks.
