International Federation of Women in Legal Careers (FIFCJ), presided by Ms. Maria Elena Elverdin from Argentina,
issued a statement on August 22, on the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.
Noting the recent executions of a group of Sunni prisoners, the statement said, “The executions coincided with the 28th anniversary of the worst massacre of political prisoners in Iran in summer 1988. Some 30,000 political prisoners including pregnant women were massacred in this process by the Iranian regime. The massacre was carried out on Khomeini’s direct decree…
“We hereby support Mrs. Rajavi’s call on the international community to refer the case of the Iranian regime to the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council. We call for the prosecution of the regime for committing crimes against humanity.”
