The police force in Tehran staged an attack against defenseless homeless women on 1 December.

Increasing poverty and drug addiction amongst women has led to catastrophic consequences. About a thousand addicted women live on the streets of Tehran. According to Deutsche Welle and state-run Fars news agency newborn babies are sold on streets and in various hospitals in southern Tehran. Fars News Agency quoted an official, “Homeless women are selling their babies in the city’s southern and central hospitals” at prices of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 rials ($30 to $60).”
