Azita Rafizadeh and her husband, Payman Koushk-Baghi, have been summoned to serve their prison terms of five and four years, respectively. Their charge is teaching at the Baha’i Institute of Higher Education (BIHE).
They were arrested in June 2011 in a raid on instructors of this institute, considered illegal according to the Iranian regime’s laws. They were temporarily released on heavy bail. Later, they were condemned to prison sentences.
The couple have a six-year-old child, who would be left alone if his parents are imprisoned simultaneously.
The Prosecutor’s Office has rejected Ms. Rafizadeh’s request to serve her term before or after her husband, so that one of them would be available for taking care of the child at any time.
