On 10 April, Ali Jannati, the regime’s minister of culture and guidance emphasized that women cannot sing solo. During a news conference, when asked if issues raised by religious figures of the regime regarding female singers has been solved, in efforts to prove his reactionary viewpoints, Jannati, who has been targeted for women singing recently in Iran, stated, “There were no problems to begin with, it is clear that women are not permitted to sing solo.”
