Storms and floods in Iran have spread to 11 provinces, including Isfahan, Tehran, South Khorasan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchistan, Fars, Qom, Golestan, Mazandaran, Kerman, and Yazd. Fifty-four counties are still surrounded by flood waters, affecting 2,600 people.
Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeastern Iran has suffered the most damage and at least three girl children lost their lives.
As a result of floods and storms, five Baloch citizens lost their lives in Saravan, Zahedan, Fanuj and Zarabad in southeastern Iran.
State run media said that strong winds in Zahedan caused a wall to fall on seven people, killing a 13-year-old girl and injuring six others.
According to local reports, the bodies of two Baloch girls who drowned in the Mashkid river due to floods in Saravan city were discovered on Monday, April 22. The two children were identified as Nazanin Siahani, 13, and Mehrnaz Siahani, 10.
Two other Baloch citizens died in Fanuj and the river of Kehir region in Zarabad city. Their bodies were pulled out of the water by locals.
In South Khorasan province in northeastern Iran, due to the intensity of rain in Zirkoh city, gardens, fields and infrastructures were damaged. Also, the residents of this village were evacuated due to the breaking of Nodeh’s earthen dam and the possibility of danger for the residents.
In the central province of Isfahan, rain and flood destroyed a house in Bonjir neighborhood.
In Kashan, central Iran, the flood caused damage to some houses and infrastructures.
In the northern province of Mazandaran, several homes were destroyed in Savadkooh.
In the southeastern province of Kerman, floods destroyed a part of a bridge in Ravar city. The water and electricity networks were cut off and the aqueduct of the village was destroyed. Ten rural roads in nomadic and mountainous areas of Barwat in Bam city were blocked due to heavy rain and 10 houses were flooded in the Tehrud area.
