The Revolutionary Court of Karaj sentenced Fatemeh Harbi to five years of imprisonment and two years of exile.
Judge Asef Al-Hosseini, known as “the Death Judge,” sentenced Fatemeh Harbi to five years of prison time and two years of exile on January 12, 2023. The verdict was communicated to her orally, not officially. For this reason, her family cannot appeal the case.
Fatemeh Harbi, 38, and mother of two children, 17 and 8 years old, is a visitor of a cosmetic company. Fatemeh Harbi has a heart condition but was beaten and tortured during the interrogation.
The security officers arrested Fatemeh Harbi on October 12, 2022, along with one of her colleagues, and transferred them to the Gohardasht Security Police and then to the Fardis Prison (Kachouii) in Karaj. Two weeks later, she was released on bail.
Fatemeh Harbi was tried online on December 14, 2022, in the First District Revolutionary Court of Karaj. Her family was not allowed to attend the court, and her lawyer was neither present.
Despite a month past the announcement of the verdict, she remains in the prison’s quarantine and is not transferred to the general ward.
Fatemeh Harbi is one of 15 female protestors on hunger strike in Fardis Prison. Her gums and intestine were infected in prison. Her heart condition has deteriorated in prison.
Fatemeh Mosleh Heydarzadeh got five years in prison and two years of exile
Fatemeh Mosleh Heydarzadeh was sentenced to 5 years in jail, two years of exile to Ardabil, and two years staying away from Tehran and Karaj on charges of blocking the road insulting the security forces, and burning her shawl.
Fatemeh Mosleh Heydarzadeh is one of the 15 female protesters on a hunger strike in Karaj’s Fardis Prison (Kachouii).
She was arrested on September 19, 2022, in Gohardasht of Karaj and transferred to Kachouii prison.
Nazanin Kaynejad sentenced to four years in prison
The 15th branch of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Salvati, sentenced Nazanin Kaynejad to 4 years in prison.
Nazanin Kaynejad, a translator, journalist, and activist in the field of advertising and marketing, was sentenced to 4 years in prison, two years ban on leaving the country, two years ban on joining parties and groups, and two years ban on online activities.
In a call to her family, Nazanin Kaynejad described the situation of the notorious Qarchak prison as dire. She said security officers put pressure on the prisoners in different ways.
Nazanin Kaynejad is the guardian of her only daughter, Bahar, who is very upset after her mother’s arrest.
Leila Mansour condemned to prison and 50 lashes
The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced the women’s rights activist Leila Mansour to one year of imprisonment and 50 lashes.
Security forces arrested Leila Mansour in Tehran on November 16, 2022, and took her to Evin prison. On December 26, she was temporarily released on bail until the end of the court proceedings.
On January 9, 2023, Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, sentenced Leila Mansour to 1 year in prison, 50 lashes, a ban on leaving the country, a ban on staying in Tehran for two years, prohibition of membership in political or social parties, groups, and organizations on charges of disturbing public order. The verdict was communicated in writing to Ms. Mansour.
No information on Paniz Karami’s conditions and whereabouts
On January 10, 2023, security forces arrested Paniz Karami on charges of rioting in cyberspace.
Paniz Karami, 25, from Tehran, is a music blogger active in the virtual space and on Twitter.
Paniz Karami is a friend of Nika Shakarami, who died in the nationwide protests. In the virtual space, Paniz Karami is called a brave blogger and a fighter whose entire activities focused on the conditions in Iran and the Iranian people.
There is no information about Paniz Karami’s health status and place of captivity.
Fariba Kamali in ward 209 of Evin prison
Fariba Kamali is still under arrest and held under undecided conditions in Evin prison.
Security forces broke into Fariba Kamali’s house on December 18, 2022, and violently arrested and transferred her to the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
Fariba Kamali, 44, an activist on children and women’s rights, is denied access to a lawyer of her choice. There is no information available on the charges against her.
