Amid the continuing wave of systematic repression following the nationwide protests of January 2026, three women identified as Saba Ahmadi, Parastoo Chamanara, and Batoul Gerami have been arrested in different cities across Iran.
Saba Ahmadi: Complete Lack of Information Since Arrest
Saba Ahmadi was arrested by security forces on February 14, 2026. Since her detention, there has been no information regarding her condition or whereabouts. This prolonged lack of communication has intensified concerns about her fate.
Saba Ahmadi, who managed a clothing boutique, was detained in the early hours of the morning during a security raid. More than a month after her arrest, no official updates have been provided, nor have she been allowed to contact her family. Her case is widely considered an example of arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance under international law.
Parastoo Chamanara: Ongoing Arbitrary Detention in Legal Limbo
Two weeks after the arrest of Parastoo Chamanara and her brother, Sasan Chamanara, both remain in custody at the Ilam Central Detention Facility without formal charges.
The siblings were arrested by security forces on March 16, 2026. Since their arrest, they have been denied access to legal counsel and family visits. Authorities have extended their temporary detention order for an additional month.
As of the time of this report, no official information has been released regarding the reasons for their arrest or any charges brought against them.
Batoul Gerami: Arrest Following Violent Assault and Transfer from Hospital
Batoul Gerami, a justice-seeking mother from Gonabad, was arrested and transferred to Gonabad Central Prison while hospitalized for severe injuries sustained during an assault by Basij and Revolutionary Guard Corps forces.
The incident occurred during a raid on a gathering held on the last Thursday of the Iranian year at the gravesite of her son. Reports indicate that Batoul Gerami suffered a fractured shoulder and lost consciousness as a result of the attack. She was transferred directly from her hospital bed to detention before completing her medical treatment.
Her physical condition is reported to be critical, and she has been denied full access to necessary medical care.
Gerami’s 22-year-old son, Sajjad Samadi, was shot by security forces on January 8, 2026, during protests in Gonabad Fearing arrest, he avoided seeking medical treatment and ultimately died due to severe blood loss.
