Social Security Retirees held a protest on Sunday, February 14, outside the local Social Security office in Kermanshah, western Iran.
Demonstrators chanted, “Our tables are empty of bread, stained instead with our blood,” a stark slogan reflecting deepening economic hardship and anger over deteriorating living standards.
Speaking at the gathering, one retiree delivered a sharply worded statement: “The bullets that should have been aimed at embezzlers, thieves, and the corrupt were instead fired into the chests of our children, children who took to the streets to demand a future for themselves. This is the voice of a generation that has nothing left to lose.”
During the rally in Kermanshah, Social Security Retirees chanted a series of protest slogans denouncing injustice and state repression. Among them:
“Outcry, outcry against all this injustice.”
“The massacre of protesters is condemned, condemned.”
“We asked for bread and dignity, they answered the nation with gunfire.”
In another address delivered to the crowd, a second retiree stated:
“I consider it my duty, first and foremost, to offer my condolences to the bereaved families, those whose children and loved ones were shot and killed and who are enduring immense psychological and emotional suffering. I urge all fellow advocates and claimants of rights to stand with these families, not in silence, but with steadfastness and unequivocal support.”
Those in attendance responded with applause and expressions of solidarity.
