Negar Ajam and her brother, Hossein Ajam, were killed during the nationwide uprising and popular protests in Gonabad, North Khorasan, on January 9, 2026, after Basij militia forces opened direct fire on an unarmed crowd.
Negar and her brother were both university students.
Following their deaths, the regime subjected Negar’s family to intense pressure, attempting to force them to publicly label their children, who were killed by Basij forces, as “Basij members” in exchange for financial compensation. The family firmly rejected this demand, stating unequivocally that their children were staunchly anti-regime.
The clerical regime went so far as to demand payment from the family even for the release of the bodies.
Negar Ajam and her brother were laid to rest alongside other victims of the uprising in Zibad Golestan Cemetery (Zibad village, Gonabad), amid chants against the ruling authorities.
