On Wednesday, August 20, security forces in Sabzevar, a city in Khorasan Razavi Province, detained Tahereh Kalateh Seyfari, a local activist, and transferred her to an undisclosed location.
Her arrest is linked to her participation in a protest held on July 22 in front of the Sabzevar Governor’s Office. The demonstration was organized in response to recurring power and water outages in the city.
Since her detention, Tahereh Kalateh Seyfari has not been allowed any contact with her family. Their repeated inquiries with judicial and security authorities have yielded no information regarding her whereabouts or possible charges.
Her arrest is part of an escalating crackdown on citizens protesting against worsening economic conditions and governmental mismanagement, including frequent electricity and water cuts across the country.
