Female Political Prisoners in Qarchak Prison Protest Executions of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani: A Defiant Voice from Behind Bars!
On the evening of Sunday, July 27, 2025, a group of female political prisoners in Qarchak Prison in Varamin held a protest ceremony condemning the sudden executions of two political prisoners, Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, in Ghezel Hesar Prison earlier that day. Both men were executed at dawn without prior notice to their families and in the absence of fair legal procedures.
The memorial event included the singing of resistance songs such as “Blood of the Judas Trees” and chants like “We stand until the death penalty is abolished” and “Death to the dictator”—a slogan that once again echoed from deep within one of Iran’s most notorious prisons.
The protesting women also expressed grave concern over a violent raid by special security forces on the political ward of Ghezel Hesar prison the day before the executions, and the forcible and aggressive transfer of prisoners to solitary confinement. On the same night, long-time political prisoner Saeed Masouri was suddenly exiled to Zahedan Prison.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the women reaffirmed their support for the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign and demanded an immediate halt to the new wave of executions and full transparency regarding the judiciary’s repressive practices.
This act of resistance was not only a tribute to the executed but a powerful cry against the entrenched cycle of injustice and repression in the Mullahs regime. On this night, Qarchak was not a silent prison—but a battleground of courage and defiance led by imprisoned women.
